“It’s all in a name”
Something we are often asked is, “What does Stinstoun mean?”
Stinstoun (pronounced stin-ston) is an old name for Stevenston, and it’s also our home town. In this old map from circa 1636, it shows Stinstoun (Stevenston), Kerylaw (Kerelaw), Saltcotts (Saltcoats), and Minfod (Montfode), though there is no direct mention of Ardrossan as that didn’t actually exist as a town until more than 150 years later.
